On November 11, the University of Waterloo is honoured to take part in the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, UK.

From October 31 – November 12, 2021, more than 190 world leaders are expected to arrive in Scotland together with tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses and citizens for twelve days of talks aimed at accelerating action on climate change.

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture seriesJohn Cherry, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Department Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Waterloo, Leader of the Groundwater Project, Recipient of the 2020 Stockholm Water Prize and Lee Kwan Yew Water Prize, 2016 presents: The Global Water Crisis Paradox: Groundwater, Food and Poverty.

This event will be offered in person at the University of Waterloo Theatre of the Arts, Modern Languages Building.

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture series and co-hosted with the Department of Applied Mathematics, Dr. Julie Pietrzak is a Professor of Physical Oceanography within the Environmental Fluid Mechanics Section, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, will present: The significance of canyons on Atlantic Water pathways towards the glaciers of Northwest Greenland.
