FuelPositive's Containerized Green Ammonia Systems: Prioritizing Farmers and Food Security

Abstract:

FuelPositive’s vision and mission are tied to reversing climate change and ending greenhouse gas emissions for good. We believe in our collective Duty of Care: to do no harm to others – to humans, to other species and to our shared planet. As such, we strive to associate with principled and ethical companies and people. We choose not to partner directly with the fossil fuel industry and will not work with any military-focused entities. FuelPositive is conscious of its own challenge of addressing nitrous oxide emissions, which are a by-product of any agricultural utilization of nitrogen. We are determined and actively engaged in finding solutions for cradle-to-cradle, non-polluting offerings. Today, eighty percent of the ammonia manufactured across the globe is used in agriculture by farmers as a nitrogen fertilizer. The world depends on ammonia fertilizer for food security. Understanding that there is now an increasing focus on ammonia for energy and for use as a hydrogen carrier, we predict a greater demand for ammonia, which will further strain the supply of ammonia for use as a fertilizer. In this lecture, we will outline the current state of the agricultural ammonia market, the pressure for green ammonia solutions, and the need for independent hydrogen production at the farm level. We will also discuss the state of our technology and our plan to scale up and deploy thousands of systems in Canada. Additionally, we will discuss the need for our systems in rural and remote communities and the challenges faced, including supply chain and resource challenges.

Nelson Leite, Chief Operating Officer, is focused on the design, development, and production of the FuelPositive prototype units and the future commercialized units. Nelson comes from an engineering and manufacturing background, with over 30 years in the high-tech automation and robotics industries. His key transferrable experiences include inventing solutions for companies such as Toyota, Tesla, Kimberly Clark and many more. The size of systems ranged from smaller under $100,000 to large projects over $10 million. Many of the systems are currently in production today at the various facilities around the world. At FuelPositive, Nelson is taking an aggressive approach, driving the commercialization of our systems, along with evolving the technology further with our team of researchers and scientists.
