In place of our usual Thirsty Third Thursday event, the UWaterloo Alumni in Calgary (UWAC) have arranged a tour of the Saddledome with Schad Richea, a UW Kinesiology grad who works on the medical/training staff for the Flames organization.

With NHL hockey shut down for the 2014 Sochi Olympics there will be a lot more elbow room in the team's vacant dressing room which normally requires an advanced degree in stick handling and high speed decision making to get past security!

We are planning to meet at 5 p.m. outside the Avison Young Club entrance (NW entrance near the box office) where we will meet Schad for an official introduction to this iconic venue.

In addition to the locker room Tour, there will be a special screening of the documentary film from this past summer's Flood and the remarkable recovery that took place both inside and out on the Stampede grounds.

At the end of the tour there will be an opportunity for inquiring minds to gather more insight on the place we call Dome!

We will then walk West past the Stampede LRT Station across McLeod Trail; destination Loungeburger ("L") for libations, appies and perhaps one of their original burger selections.

One of L's owners, Harry Vanzeist,is also a UW grad, so this event will be as much about celebrating the successes of two fellow alumni in Calgary as it will be a pilgrimage to the C of Red and a popular stop on Flames fans' pre and post-game watering holes!

With space on the tour limited to 25 people, you are kindly asked to register for this event by following with link ASAP to lock down your spot!
