Family Welcome Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in welcoming new students and their families to the University of Waterloo!

Creating a strong connection for our students from day one is an important part of building a vibrant and integrated community on campus. Your participation in these events allows our students and their families to meet alumni, faculty and staff members that help shape their fantastic experience at Waterloo. You can find out more about the volunteer opportunities available below, and complete the form to let us know your availability. 

International Family Welcome - Canada House | Thursday August 29th, 2019

Volunteer to welcome incoming international students and their families to campus as they arrive off the airport shuttle. Duties include greeting and directing students and families, engaging guests in Canada-themed activities and trivia, and answering general questions. Canada House booths will be located in Village 1 and UW Place residences.

Family Welcome - Board Game Cafe | Sunday September 1st, 2019

Volunteer to engage with and welcome students and their families to Waterloo at one of two board game cafes in residence. Duties include welcoming guests, engaging them in board games and lawn games, serving bubble tea and popcorn, and providing general route guidance and direction. Board Game Cafes will be located in Mackenzie King Village and UW Place residences.
