Beryl Tomay (BMath '05)
Vice President, Transportation at Amazon
Beryl Tomay has been at Amazon for 20 years having joined in 2005 as a Software Development Engineer. She was part of the small team that launched the original Kindle device and remained in the Devices organization for the subsequent 8 years. She joined the nascent Last Mile organization, the logistics business that gets packages through the final steps on their way to customers’ doorsteps, in early 2014 as one of its first employees. Today, she is responsible for Amazon’s Last Mile delivery technology and businesses (Delivery Service Partner, Amazon Flex, Hub Delivery, and Pickup and Return Points) as well as Amazon’s customer delivery and returns experiences. Prior to Amazon, Beryl received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo in Canada. Beryl and her husband love going to Kraken hockey games, walking their dog Luna, and visiting new and diverse restaurants.
Jochen Koenemann
Professor and Dean of Mathematics, University of Waterloo
Jochen Koenemann is a professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization and the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. A highly respected researcher, Dr. Koenemann works at the intersection of theoretical computer science and operations research, with a focus on the foundations of optimization and their real-world applications. His research has addressed a broad range of complex problems across diverse domains. Notably, over the past six years, Dr. Koenemann held both Scholar and Principal Scientist roles at Amazon, where he worked on a variety of optimization challenges arising in the company’s global delivery network.
As Dean, Dr. Koenemann leads the Faculty of Mathematics through transformative change across teaching, research, and administration.

As Vice-President, Advancement and External Relations, Nenone leads the University of Waterloo's marketing, communications, events, alumni relations, and fundraising activities. With an expansive track record of building successful relationships and developing key connections, Nenone broadens our engagement, deepening our public impact and building lasting collaborations that benefit the University.
A Queen’s University graduate, Nenone is currently Chair of a not-for-profit board in the youth sector, Amici Children's Camp Charity.
