Alumni volunteers cultivate connections and community

Wednesday, April 9, 2025

University of Waterloo alumni make up a vast network of over 255,000 graduates, spanning 157 countries. Despite the distance, they are all connected by one alumni network. A network that could not be achieved without the work of our volunteers.

Alumni are able to stay connected through the dozens of volunteer-driven alumni chapters and global ambassadors. These volunteer efforts unite alumni, foster community, and cultivate collaboration to make a positive impact on the world. This National Volunteer Week (April 7 to May 3), we would like to highlight a few of the alumni who are building connections and fostering community around the world.

From Jane Younge in Seattle who organizes inclusive outdoor events, to Harrison Lung in Dubai who is expanding alumni networks across the Gulf region, to Meighan Bell in Toronto who leads a mentorship program for recent grads, these stories reflect the power of volunteer-driven alumni engagement in creating a strong, supportive global network.
