Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends returned to campus on September 18 and 19 for Homecoming 2026. Together, they celebrated University of Waterloo pride, reconnecting with old friends and creating new memories during a busy day of activities.

This year marked a new chapter for Waterloo, bringing Homecoming and reunion celebrations together for the first time. The combined approach offered a wider range of activities for guests to participate and enjoy their time on campus.

Saturday morning kicked off with one of Waterloo’s longest-standing traditions: the Fun Run. Participants of all ages took to Ring Road for a 2.5-kilometre or 5-kilometre run, jog or walk.

A new addition to this year’s celebration was Homecoming Headquarters in the Student Life Centre. Serving as a central gathering place, the space welcomed visitors checking in for the day, connecting with classmates, taking photos and exploring displays curated by Special Collections and Archives. Throughout the day, it became a hub for conversations, reunions and chance encounters between generations of alumni.

Across campus, alumni explored a wide range of activities, from faculty-hosted events and class reunions to open houses and tours.

As kickoff approached, fans gathered at the popular Parking Lot Party beside Warrior Field, where live music, games and campus partner activities helped build excitement ahead of the big game.

Alumni and their guests filled the Alumni VIP Tent on Warriors Field as the football team took on the Windsor Lancers. Despite losing the game, the field was surrounded by a sea of black and gold, school spirit and community celebration.

Whether they were returning for their first reunion or their 50th, Homecoming 2026 offered countless opportunities to reconnect with the people, places and traditions that make Waterloo special. The result was a celebration that honoured our community's past while creating new traditions for the future.

Thanks to everyone who attended. We hope to see you again next year!
