The first-ever University of Waterloo Giving Day is coming up on Thursday May 15. It’s a 24-hour campaign to advance teaching, learning and research at the University.

Here’s why Giving Day is important to your University of Waterloo Alumni Council:

“I have fond memories of my years as a Waterloo student, and it brings me joy to contribute towards younger cohorts having similar or even better experiences than what I had!”

Lee Anne Doyle

Lee Anne Doyle (BES ’81), Alumni Council chair

“My commitment and passion as a Waterloo alum is unwavering after 44 years and I will continue to give back both professionally and financially, focusing on fundraising opportunities to address current and future funding challenges while developing pride and lifelong relationships with Waterloo alumni and students.”

Michelle Hung

“As a proud University of Waterloo Math graduate and Alumni Council member, I support the Giving Day Campaign to help inspire and empower the next generation of innovators. My path — from co-op student to investment banker, to author and entrepreneur — was built on the strong foundation provided by the University. I am giving back to the community that has been instrumental in shaping my career and success.”

Matt Manuel

Matt Manuel (BASc ’93)

“Attending the University of Waterloo was a formative experience for me and set me on a successful career path. I want current students to benefit from their experience and be able to chart their path to success.”

Anne-Marie Marais

“My time at the University of Waterloo will always hold a special place in my heart. The experiences I had and the friendships I formed are a lasting part of who I am. I’ll always do what I can to help others create their own memorable experiences — ones that bring a smile to their face whenever they look back on their time at the University.”
