Bill Packham (BMath '78)

Bill Packham (BMath '78) is a leader in the securities industry. Recently retired, he was president and CEO of Rockwater Capital Corporation, and chair and CEO of Blackmont Capital Inc.

After studying accounting at the University of Waterloo, Packham held progressively senior roles with firms such as Davidson Partners, Midland Doherty, Midland Walwyn and Merrill Lynch. He is past chair of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada, and served on its board from 1999 to 2003.

Packham has demonstrated his commitment to Waterloo by offering many hours of service as a volunteer on the University of Waterloo Foundation board, leading the Campaign Waterloo team for the Faculty of Mathematics, and supporting the University of Waterloo President's Golf Tournament each year. In 2005, he established the William D. Packham Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship endowment.

The William D. Packham Scholarship of Excellence in Accountancy Studies is presented annually to an outstanding student. Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. established it in recognition of Packham's ongoing support to the securities sector.
