What it measures
Dimension: Overall academic achievement, attainment, and participation
This indicator reports the proportion of Canadians in their early twenties who have completed high school. Graduation rates have increased steadily over the past two decades. Today, nearly 90% of Canadians between the ages of 20 and 24 have a high school diploma.
Why this matters
Obtaining a high school diploma is, for many Canadians, an important first step in entering the workforce. Completing high school is tightly tied to living standards and health because of its relationship to potential future income and socioeconomic status.
