In the private sector
- DESIGN a corporate Human Resource (HR) plan to embrace elements from all eight categories of the CIW: create modules on money management, philanthropy, time management, and civics; start a subsidized onsite daycare; make it a policy to hire full-time employees (i.e., salaries with benefits); have a generous flex-time policy; subsidize public transportation to work (i.e., carpool, bus passes); encourage professional development; and only offer healthy food at work.
In the public sector
- CONVENE a cross-sectoral group of people who might not normally collaborate, to tackle a complex issue in your community using the CIW as the common language and underlying framework to connect the dots between everyone's good work.
For individuals
- CREATE a personal development checklist for yourself or your family: take a course on how to plan for retirement; join your local community centre yoga class for stress release and to meet people; read to your children; eat simple homemade meals as a family; make time for long brisk walks; volunteer your time to a cause you care about; reduce your ecological footprint; go to a free concert in a park; turn off your smartphone when you leave the office.
For everyone
- TALK about the CIW with your local Member of Parliament (MP), Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), or councillor as a tool to inform policy development.
- CHAT about the CIW with your colleagues, friends, and family to improve your workplace or personal life.
