Dimension: Fresh water
This indicator measures how much fresh water is available to Canadians at different points in the year. In particular, this indicator reports on water availability when demand for water is highest and supply is lowest (often in the month of August).
Why this matters
All living things depend upon the availability of water. There is no limit to the negative impact water shortage can have on the environment, food production, animal life, and the health and wellbeing of Canadians.
