Ontario Ergonomics Intervention Cost-Benefit Calculator
This Ontario ergonomics cost-benefit calculator is based on the Washington State Ergonomics Cost-Benefit Calculator, created by Rick Goggins through The Puget Sound Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries in 2015. “The calculator allows you to compare three intervention options, and provides estimates of benefits and payback periods. The calculator is based on a review of 250 case studies in which organizations reported the outcomes of ergonomics programs and individual solutions.”
The Ontario based calculator differs from the Washington State calculator as it uses WSIB injury cost data collected pre-pandemic (2018-2019) or during the pandemic (2020-2022) to determine the cost of injuries. The remaining calculations to determine estimates of benefits and payback period are based on the Washington State calculator and have not been altered.
