A message from the Office of the Vice-President, Research and International.
The Inclusive Research Team in the OVPRI is excited to continue supporting the learning journey for researchers on ways to embed equitable and inclusive practices in their research programs.
We are kicking off winter and spring 2024 with several core offerings. All sessions will be virtual, and detailed information will be forthcoming closer to the event dates. There are also more events to come—stay tuned!
Inclusive Research Resource Hub is also always available to all University of Waterloo community members. The Hub is a repository of curated resources to support continued learning on best practices in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion in research and in Indigenous research.
Please reach out to research.equity@uwaterloo.ca or indigenous.research@uwaterloo.ca with any questions.
A message from Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE).
We don’t often see a building name change on campus, but that’s exactly what’s happened. The William M. Tatham Centre for Co-operative Education & Career Action is now the William M. Tatham Centre for Co-operative and Experiential Education.
Why the change? The unit updated its name to Co-operative and Experiential Education in 2019 to better reflect the fulsome work-integrated learning and career development support it offers. To remain consistent, the building’s name now reflects the entire portfolio of CEE. “The evolvement of the portfolio and updating the signage was a multi-year process,” says Joe Henhoeffer, executive officer, CEE. “The building signs and maps are now updated and it’s time to share the news!”
This year marks the 20th anniversary of William M. Tatham Centre for Co-operative and Experiential Education welcoming its first term of co-op students.
Throughout 2023, a number of staff and faculty members have retired from the University. Here are the retirees from 2023’s second quarter (April to June) as reported by Human Resources.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
