The transition to Workday Recruit has begun: here's what you need to know

The talent management system homepage.

A message from Human Resources.

The transition from iCIMS to Workday as the University of Waterloo’s new talent recruitment platform is progressing on schedule, with a go-live date set for June 20, 2025. This change will streamline recruitment processes, improve efficiency, and enhance candidate experience by enabling tailored applications for multiple roles. A parallel run of both platforms will begin on June 4, during which new requisitions will be created in Workday and existing ones will be finalized in iCIMS.

The last job posting day for internal positions through iCIMS is June 11. For staff applying for these positions, you will continue to apply through the active iCIMS links until June 19.  There will be no postings on June 18 due to the transition. On June 25, job postings positions will be housed on the Workday talent recruitment platform in accordance with our regular posting cycle. Once the transition to Workday is complete, all employees, regardless of internal status, will apply through the internal portal housed within the Job Hub in Workday and the internal postings section of the Careers website.

Talent Acquisition Specialists will provide direct support to employees applying for open positions to ensure a smooth transition.  Learn more about this project on the Staff Talent and Performance Framework website.

Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with ceremony, culture, and community

The Indigenous gathering space outside the Student Life Centre.

By Sam Toman.

The Office of Indigenous Relations and the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) invite all members of the campus community to join in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day on Thursday, June 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at BMH Green.

This special event is an opportunity to honour the diverse cultures, voices, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples through ceremony, storytelling, music, and community connection.

The morning begins with a Sacred Fire Lighting and Indigenous Arts Market at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Pipe Ceremony, Elders’ Welcome, and a free lunch ("Taco in a Bag"). Enjoy live performances by talented Indigenous student musicians Ryan MacTavish, Ethan Gardner, and the Indigenous Student Drum Group.

This gathering takes place at the newly opened Indigenous Outdoor Gathering Space, a space for reflection, community, and celebration.

All students, staff, faculty, and community members are welcome. Registration is required. Visit the Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day event page to sign up.

Let’s come together in celebration.

Menopause Café coming up and other notes

Menopause Cafe banner featuring a coffee table with two cups and a potted plant.

You’re invited: Waterloo’s next Menopause Café is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17. "At a Menopause Café people gather to eat, drink and discuss menopause," says a note from the The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO). "You may laugh, you may cry, the idea is a comfortable space to share and normalize this common experience many of us are navigating. Menopause can be an isolating, scary experience; it can also be a liberating, freeing experience. Our hope is that a menopause café can provide some of the support, learning and care people deserve."

The event takes place on Tuesday, June 17, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the DC 1301 fishbowl.

Everyone is welcome. No registration required. Just drop in. Contact Stacey Jacobs with any questions or concerns: s3jacobs@uwaterloo.ca.

The University of Waterloo Knowledge Mobilization Community of Practice will be holding an event tomorrow, June 5, entitled Beyond Buzzwords: Rethinking Communications and Knowledge Mobilization at Waterloo to Enhance Research Impact."

The Centre for Science, Technology, and Values (CSTV) is hosting another movie screening next week featuring 2014's Ex Machina, directed by Alex Garland. "This movie revisits the classic Frankenstein story in which an artificial person is made to prove herself to her high-tech creators," says a note from organizer Dr. Cameron Shelley. All UWaterloo students, faculty and staff are welcome - no need to pass the Turing Test to enter. Admission and popcorn are free.

The screening and follow-up discussion will be held on Tuesday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. in E5 6008. Bring a friend - real or artificial.
