Several St. Paul’s GreenHouse students received Social Impact Fund grants at the most recent Social Impact Showcase, held at St. Paul’s University College. All of the recipients were GreenHouse Fellows, winners of Big Ideas Challenge for Social Good whose GreenHouse accommodations were funded by the Libro Prosperity Fund.
A big thank you goes to the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation, TD Canada Trust Merv Lahn Community Development Fund, and the Youth Advisory Council Fund for contributing to this term’s Social Impact Fund, allowing students more financial assistance with which to move their ventures forward.
Congratulations to the following Social Impact Fund recipients:
Developing an adjustable smart mattress that automatically redistributes pressure to prevent bedsores and provides data to health care providers.
Integrating support systems for youth living with Autism Spectrum exceptionalities.
Designing a simple low-tech solution to help create positive habits by developing self-awareness.
Developing and selling a mental health first aid kit for stress management on campuses and workplaces.
Building an autonomous machine to defuse landmines safely in Cambodia.
Organizing South East Asian classical performing art workshops and performances for therapeutic purposes.
Creating healthy, natural, and ethically sourced skin care products with repurposed waste materials.
The University of Waterloo Staff Association (UWSA) has announced that the deadline for the Johnson Inc. Academic Scholarship is August 31.
The scholarships were established in 1998 by Paul J. Johnson and members of Johnson’s Corporate Leadership Team. Johnson has awarded 100 Scholarships annually since that date, with each award valued at $1,000.
Canadian students who are graduating high school and pursuing post-secondary education in Canada may apply. For more information, visit the website or call 1-877-328-7878.
The term loan date has changed from September 15 to January 15, 2017, according to an announcement from the Library.
The term loan date change went into effect on Monday, August 15. Borrowers can begin renewing their books after Thursday, August 18 for the Fall term. Renewal reminder notices will be sent to patrons on Wednesday.

There is still time to sign up for the UW Staff Association's annual shopping trip to Erie, Pennsylvania, which will be held from November 11 to 13. The due date for undergraduate and graduate students to submit their payment or Promissory Note to become Fees Arranged for Fall term without a late fee is Wednesday, August 24.
