Heritage months and days of significance

In recognition of the contributions and the challenges faced by historically marginalized communities, the University of Waterloo celebrates heritage months and days of significance and acknowledges various identities throughout the year. These acknowledgements represent an opportunity to promote awareness, education, diversity and action to foster a culture of belonging and respect for all people, regardless of their background or identity.

The following web pages include opportunities for people to learn more about the traditions, scholarship, history and current experiences of historically marginalized, excluded and or oppressed groups.

Coming soon will be a Calendar of Heritage Months and Days of Significance informed by recommendations from the PART Report, the Scarborough Charter, the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-racism Office, the Office of Indigenous Relations, University Relations and other partners across our campuses.
