Bernadette
Perry
is
a
French
Master’s
student
in
applied
linguistics
at
the
University
of
Victoria,
British
Columbia.
She
is
currently
specializing
in
the
gamification
of
second
language
acquisition.
Her
research
consists
of
developing
a
quest-based
French
language
learning
tool,
which
she
calls
Explorez.
After
implementing
this
system
into
a
first-year
French
course
at
UVic,
Bernadette
will
analyze
the
collected
data
on
student
engagement,
participation
and
language
acquisition
to
determine
its
efficacy
as
a
teaching
aid.
