Elisa Mekler is a PhD student at the Center of Cognitive Psychology and Methodology within the Department of Psychology at the University of Basel, Switzerland. She holds a M.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Basel with special emphasis on Human-Computer Interaction.
Her thesis focuses on studying the experiential and motivational aspects of digital games and gamified systems using research methods from Experimental Psychology. Being an avid gamer herself, Elisa encourages students to reflect on what makes their favourite game so special and how this may be applied to make non-game contexts more engaging.
