Director Nominations Open and Election 2018

Official notice is hereby served to elect seven (7) graduate students to the GSA Board of Directors.

  • The directorships terms of office are: 
    • One (1) directorship beginning May 1, 2018 and ending April 30 2019, and
    • Six (6) directorships beginning May 1 2018 and ending April 30, 2020.
  • Nominations
    • The call for nominations is now open and closes at 3:00 pm on March 23, 2018.
    • Nomination forms can be downloaded at: GSA director Nomination Form-2018.
    • Paper copies of the nomination form are available at the GSA Offices in the Commissary 130 and at the Graduate House.
    • Nomination forms must be submitted to the GSA Office before March 23 at 3:00pm. 
      • (Use On-campus mail to:  GSA CRO, GSA Office, COM 130)
    • Nominees will receive a confirmation of receipt from the GSA Chief Returning Officer (CRO) within three business days of submission.
  • Campaigning period:
    • Begins at 7:00 am March 26, 2018 and closes on April 1, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
    • Exemption to closing deadline: Biographies and photos posted to the GSA website and a short speech at the AGM will be allowed until April 4, 2018.
    • The GSA will host a web link for each candidate. Candidates may provide a photo and a statement to be posted on the GSA website. (Maximum 150 words).
    • Candidates will be given an opportunity to speak at the AGM.
  • Voting (election days):
    • The eligible voters consist of graduate students that are registered on the list provided by the Graduate Studies Office for Winter 2018 term. 
    • Graduate students may vote once using one of the following options:
      • In person by paper ballot at the AGM at 4:00pm on April 4, 2018 at Location TBD or,
      • Online voting opens at 7:00 am on Monday April 2, 2018 and closes at 12-noon on April 4, 2018.

The Board of Directors is responsible for the operations of the GSA and is accountable to the graduate students of the University of Waterloo.  For information please view Great Directors Wanted, the Association's governance webpage, or the relevant Policies (Policy #5) and By-Laws (By-Law#5).
