Research Travel Claims Information

Friday, December 18, 2015

The Office of Research has prepared a brief document which contains important information for students who will be travelling for research purposes. The information is relevant to short local trips (such as using an owned vehicle to travel to a local fieldwork site) or longer trips (such as attending a conference overseas or performing fieldwork for an extended period of time in a remote location). It is important that travel claims adhere to both research sponsor and UW policies. If you will be travelling for research purposes, please review this document in advance of your trip; it will help ensure a timely reimbursement.

Questions – if you have questions about Waterloo Policy or the processing of your claim, please contact your academic department, institute, or school. If you have questions about expense eligibility on research accounts, please contact the appropriate Research Finance Training and Compliance Officer.

Did you know....The GSA offers travel health insurance coverage for eligible graduate students while travelling out of Canada?   Be prepared and if you have any questions please contact the GSA Office.  --Rose Vogt, GSA
