Up to two scholarships valued at $5,000 each are awarded annually to full-time graduate students enrolled in Year One of the Master's (thesis option) or Doctoral program in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics on the basis of academic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average). This scholarship has been established to help the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics continue to attract top students world-wide. This fund is made possible by a donation from Microsoft in honour of Lijiang Fang, BMath and MMath whose work along with his team at his company awarded him with an Outstanding Technical Achievement Award from Microsoft.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
