New Magnet Mapping Laboratory

Today we began installing the equipment for a new magnet mapping laboratory, associated with the WaterFEL free electron laser laboratory. Over the next year, we will be collaborating with scientists from the private sector and from the HFML-FELIX facility in the Netherlands to build two new undulatory (mid- and far-IR) for the WaterFEL infrared free electron laser.

This award is given to a Canadian spectroscopist in recognition of a significant contribution to the application of spectroscopy to analytical chemistry or to other technological problems relevant to industry, medicine, or the environment. Visit the Canadian Society of Applied Sciences and Spectroscopy website to learn more.

The Keith Laidler Award recognizes outstanding early-career contributions to physical chemistry, for research carried out in Canada, by a scientist residing in Canada. Hopkins' research explores gas phase ion chemistry and employs controlled environments to study the evolution of condensed phase properties. Hopkins’ research develops and uses experimental tools such as ion mobility spectrometry, mass spectrometry, and laser spectroscopy, as well as computational tools including artificial intelligence.
