After conducting a competitive and detailed RFP process, we are pleased to share the selection of Workday as the University’s new HRMS and payroll system, with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) as our implementation partner.Workday is a market leader in their field and the goal is to enhance the way employees and managers interact with Human Resources. Workday is flexible enough to meet the University’s current needs with little need for customizations, while also remaining innovative and agile to serve the growth of the University and its future goals. Workday’s Human Capital Management system is currently used in many educational institutions, with implementations underway at McGill University, Brock University and Algonquin College.

HRMS and Payroll System

The HR Technology group, made up of Human Resources (HR) and Information, Systems & Technology (IST) staff, is responsible for the selection and day-to-day running of human resources related systems. HR Technology maintains employee information crucial to managing the employee lifecycle, providing support across campus on an individual employee and departmental basis. Various departments, as well as governmental bodies, require reporting from this key information to assist in decision making.

A properly designed Human Resource Management System (HRMS) is a tool to help employees access information faster and easier. Working with the University community, planning is currently underway to continue expanding and delivering functionality to campus to address ongoing needs. Human Resources Management Systems have come a long way since first implemented and the University of Waterloo is aiming to take advantage of many of the easy-to-use features such as enhanced employee and manager self-service to provide optimal customer service to campus.
