Fourteen years ago I had to make a choice of post-secondary school. The task was daunting, but as a local to the Waterloo region, I knew the reputation of UWaterloo throughout the community. So the exciting day my offer came in, it was accepted immediately.
Studying at the University took four years, but looking back now it felt like it lasted only a week. Some of my fondest memories include living at REV WC. Even today many of our floor mates still get together for holidays and celebrations.
Attending the AHS Fun Run has become a ritual. Each September my wife and I look forward to participating in the event. We are typically joined by some classmates and friends and use it as a time to catch up with those from out of town. I have even met friends from work and work customers at the run. We have also made it a family event, dressing up with our two-and-half-year-old daughter (sometimes even finding costumes and themes many months in advance).
If you haven’t attended one of the runs, I would highly suggest you do so. It is a great place to see old friends and make new ones, but most importantly, it helps get those steps in!
The Fun Run is an annual event held on Alumni Black and Gold Day (formerly Reunion). For more than three decades, the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences welcomed Waterloo alumni as they joined students, faculty, staff and other members of the community to celebrate healthy, active living. The Fun Run is now bigger and better than ever, hosted by University of Waterloo Alumni Relations.
Alumni Relations is proud to partner with UW MATES on this popular event. Three dollars from every entry fee will go towards MATES, a one-to-one student peer support program offered by the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association in consultation with Campus Wellness.
