Chief Information Security Officer
Mike began his career at Waterloo in 2001 with the then-Offices of Development and Alumni Affairs as a systems administrator. He moved to the Computer Science Computing Facility in 2003 to support research computing, and joined IST in 2009 as the first staff member in what has become Information Security Services. In 2013, Mike was hired as the first manager, Information Security Operations, and in 2026, the Chief Information Security Officer.
Mike has served as co-chair of the CUCCIO Information Security SIG, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the non-profit Center for CyberSecurity Operations in Research and Education (CCORE). Mike holds an honours Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of New Brunswick.
