AI Innovation & Systems Development
Pavol began his University of Waterloo career in 2009 as a co-op student in Campus Housing and joined Information Systems & Technology (IST) in 2012 as a Web Developer. He has since contributed to campus-wide software development efforts and key institutional systems
As Director of AI Innovation & Systems Development, he leads initiatives in artificial intelligence, automation, and enterprise application support, including oversight of the University’s student portal and related systems. His work focuses on applying emerging technologies to improve teaching, learning, and administrative processes while maintaining strong commitments to privacy, security, and user experience.
Pavol contributes to the University’s responsible AI principles and governance efforts, collaborates with the FAST development community of practice, and teaches ITPD courses related to AI. He is also active in advancing institutional readiness for AI adoption through frameworks, experimentation, and campus engagement.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Waterloo.
