Who can participate?
The IT Advisory Board is open to all current students (undergraduate or graduate). Technical knowledge is not required, and all experience levels are welcomed.
I'm interested! How do I apply?
Hiring takes place on a term-by-term basis. Applications open a couple months before the start of term.
If you are interested in providing feedback that will improve student IT services on campus, please apply on the IT Advisory Board application page.
What has ITAB accomplished so far?
- Single page site for Student IT Services
- IST now participates in the campus life fair to connect with students and talk about our services
- IST now routinely does poster runs on campus to promote new services and maintenance for core services
- The IT Advisory Board has been advertised on social media
- Learn Improvements
- A knowledge base is currently being developed
- Portal Improvements
- Creation of this website to share accomplishments with campus
- Promo item in first year orientation kit (IST post-it notes)
- Instructional graphics (How to connect to Wi-Fi is now at all IT Service Desks, Residence front desks)
- Talking to Dons about IT Services available to students
- Redeveloped IST Help & Support Page
- More easily accessible Wi-Fi setup guides
Which ideas are being worked on?
These are some of the ideas we are working on possibility of which have come directly from the IT Advisory Board:
- Investigating use of podium computer wallpapers as a space to advertise IST services
- Spreading our message more effectively on social media
- Workshops / Courses for students
- Service Desk web page refresh (to be more like other recent IST pages)
- Adding Wi-Fi settings to setup page
- Documentation for wifi-setup-no-encryption
- More equipment availiable for sign-outs at Service Desks
- Better list of equipment availiable at Service Desks
