Dr. Christopher Lane

Dr. Chris Lane has worked in private practice in Waterloo since the early 90's.  He has been interested in a wide range of theoretical orientations, including CBT, DBT, NLP, psychodynamic, and performance enhancement approaches with a wide range of presenting problems and issues.  In his earlier years he worked extensively with younger children and adolescents but more recently has been working with pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults in individual therapy and couple therapy.  Following up on his thesis in the area of Performance and Sport Psychology, he has also worked with a wide variety of athletes in many sports, from young, grass-roots athletes right up to Olympic contenders and Professional athletes. 

Dr. Lane received his B.A. from the University of Tennessee with a double major in philosophy and psychology (highest honors) in 1983 and ran for the University track team. He received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Waterloo in 1992.  He worked in a 1-yr placement initially, as well as private practice then went into full-time private practice in 1994.  He has worked part-time as an Adjunct Assistant Prof. at UW, helping to train clinical Ph.D. students in psychotherapy since about 2000.  He also worked heavily with Family and Children's Services early in his career and was an expert witness in court for several years before moving on to other things in approx. 2004.  He is presently focusing almost exclusively on psychotherapy, including individual therapy for clients age approx. 10 and up, couples, and families.
