Positive Parenting Services at the CMHRT
Our philosophy: We value a Positive Parenting approach to intervention that focuses on the importance of the parent-child/teen relationship and helps parents develop the skills to guide and support their children’s developmental and mental health needs.
- Individual parenting interventions which may complement psychotherapy for a particular child or adolescent. Please see our Children, Adolescent and Families Services page for more information.
Triple P Positive Parenting Program Groups
We offer 8 week evidence-based parenting intervention groups (Triple P Positive Parenting Group Program) for parents of children and for parents of teenagers. Groups are held once each term, depending on clinician availability and client demand. Fees are on a sliding scale.
What is Triple P? Triple P is a world-acclaimed evidence-based program that gives parents skills to manage challenging behaviours and prevent problems from happening in the first place. It does not tell people how to parent. Rather, it gives parents and caregivers simple and practical strategies they can adapt to suit their own values, beliefs and needs.
Who is it for? Parents of children or adolescents with significant or multiple behavioural difficulties that are often displayed in more than one setting – for example at home, school, sport clubs or with friends. It is also for motivated parents interested in gaining a more in-depth understanding of positive parenting.
How to refer: Interested clients should contact the UW CMHRT at 519-888-4567 x33842 or firstname.lastname@example.org and should say that they are interested in Triple P. Spaces are limited.
We are part of the Parenting Alliance of Waterloo Region.
