Research by PhD student Brok Laschowski was featured in a keynote talk by Jensen Huang, the President and CEO of NVIDIA. His PhD focuses on modelling the visual information processing neural networks in the brain using deep learning. These brain-inspired algorithms are used for environment-adaptive control of robotic systems.

Research by PhD student Brok Laschowski and supervised by Professor John McPhee was featured on BBC News. Brok's PhD research focuses on visual perception and environment-adaptive control of robotic systems using deep learning, modelling the visual information processing neural networks in the brain.

Parya Khoshroo, MoRG member and MASc student in Systems Design Engineering, received 2nd Prize in the Three Minute Thesis Competition at the University of Waterloo for her research innovations in stroke rehabilitation robotics and virtual reality. Congratulations Parya!

John McPhee, Tenured Professor of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo and Tier I Canada Research Chair in Biomechatronic System Dynamics, has been awarded the 2019 Ontario Professional Engineers Association (OPEA) Medal of Engineering Excellence for his influential contributions toward the a

Professors Arash Arami and John McPhee have been awarded the John R. Evans Leaders Fund by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (valued at $182,000) for their collaborative research “Neuromechanics-Based Assistive Robotics: Towards Optimal Personalized Robotic Assistance”.
