“The EV Challenge showcases student creativity, inventiveness and teamwork,” said Peter Teertstra, a professor of engineering at the University of Waterloo, and organizer of the event. “The skills and knowledge gained by the students when designing, building and racing their vehicles are invaluable as they head towards post-secondary education, and later into the workforce. The next big breakthrough in alternative fuels might even come from one of these students.”
The Faculty of Engineering at Waterloo is the host of the event, and sponsors include Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, Navitas, Interstate Batteries, CRS, and the Trillium Auto Dealers Association, which will display the winning vehicle at the auto show.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
