The Ontario West Provincial Championship for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) will be hosted on February 7, 2015 in the Physical Activities Complex (PAC) at the University of Waterloo for the third year.

More than 400 children, aged 9 to 14, have spent the past months developing their robots using the LEGO Mindstorm kits.  More than 40 elementary to middle school teams will come from all over western Ontario to take place in the championship.

The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League (FLL) is a program that aims to introduce young people to the fun and excitement of science and technology.  Using LEGO Mindstorms technologies and other educational materials from the LEGO Group, schoolchildren work together with coaches and mentors to design, build and program autonomous robots.

Each year, a challenge is issued to the teams, which contains several missions that teams try to have their robots complete.

The pits will open at 7:30 a.m. with judging and practice rounds to begin at 8 a.m.  The event is free for visitors.
