President Feridun Hamdullahpur with King Warrior and a man holding a child and a dog at Canada Day festivitiesThe 33rd annual University of Waterloo Canada Day Celebration kicks off on Saturday, July 1 at 4:00 p.m. at Columbia Lake Fields, and it will be our biggest celebration yet! Join us for this free event as we celebrate the University’s 60th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of our Federation of Students, and Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Juno award-winning children’s performers Bobs & Lolo will take the stage in the afternoon followed by Canadian rock icon, Tom Cochrane with Red Rider on the OpenText stage in the evening. New this year is a special City of Wateroo sponsored Canada 150 Cultural Stage featuring local cultural organizations. It all comes together with  a special Canada Day Salute at 6 p.m. and an amazing fireworks display  at dusk as we welcome over 60,000 to our campus. Learn more about the day’s schedule and all of our performers.

Our food fair is a festival experience you don't want to miss. Guests can kick back, relax and get refreshed in our beer garden, or take part in the variety of hands-on, fun activities for the whole family.. From face painting and arts and crafts to inflatable obstacle courses, it is sure to be a day to remember. Check out our list of food vendors, and find out more about all our family activities.

  1. Bring your refillable water bottle and fill up at our free Water Bar
  2. Transit/Cycle/Walk/Carpool, using the free Travel Wise App for your transportation options
  3. Recycle throughout the field and head to the picnic area for compost bins.
