Binocular Vision

In this area of the clinic, eye coordination and eye movements are assessed. Special attention is paid to lazy eyes (amblyopia) as a result of an eye turn (strabismus), unequal amounts of far-sightedness/near-sightedness, eye movements during reading and the manner in which the two eyes work together as a pair. Specially-designed spectacles or vision exercises may be used to improve visual efficiency during vocational and avocational performance. Referrals are made to external health or education professionals as required.

Members of the public, including the university community, are examined upon receipt of a letter from a health care professional, or by referral from another clinic within the  University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science.
