Our Bambu Labs X-1 Carbon printers are higher tech 3D printers and offer a wider range of possibilities for your projects. Combined with the Automatic Material System (AMS) we now have the ability to offer prints in multiple colours and materials, including options like water soluble supports to allow for a even wider range of models previously not possible to print. More advanced processes in these printers allows for a wider range of materials, including ABS and Carbon Fiber reinforced materials previously not possible with our Prusa printers. Here is a link to all the Bambu Labs materials that are possible with our X1 Carbon printers.
Print Process and Payment
All specialty prints will require an in person consultation to consider the use case and possibilities of your print. Payment will be made from the filament usage estimated by the slicer and will be done before the print is started to prevent waste of our specialty materials. Our staff will facilitate the slicer set up, printing, as well as post print processing if necessary (ex. water soluble support removal). For multicoloured printing the colour selection is done by the customer in the slicer during consultation. Ensure you print in the supported file type for the part you would like to have printed, either by usb drive or email it to the RPC staff at the time of consultation, files emailed to RPC staff without a consultation will not be printed.
Below is some information about the services we're currently offering with our Bambu Labs Printers:
Multicolour PLA Printing
With the Automatic Material System you can now print with up to 4 different colours of PLA filament at once. Simply choose what colours you'd like from our selection of filament and the RPC staff will help you colour your model with the colours you'd like. We are currently charging a flat fee of $5.00 for this service plus the $0.06/g for the amount of filament used. The flat fee is to compensate for the larger amounts of waste that come with multicoloured printing. This option works great for models with coloured details that would be difficult to paint on after printing or to achieve a uniform finish on your multicoloured models.
Carbon Fiber Filaments
With the more advanced parts and processes of our Bambu labs printers we can now offer stronger materials, including Carbon Fiber reinforced materials. We are currently offering Bambu Labs' PAHT-CF filament for your prints. This is a carbon fiber reinforced nylon material, it combines the properties of both Nylon materials PA-6 and PA- 12 and inhances the mechanical strength and toughness of the material. We are offering PAHT-CF at a rate of $0.13/g for your project's needs.
Here is some more information on PAHT-CF filament from the Bambu Labs website. The technical data sheet which includes numerical specifications about the material can be found below:
Water Soluble Supports
The Automatic Material System (AMS) also allows for printing with multiple materials at once. Our PVA water soluble support material allows for prints with more complex geometry that would have been previously impossible with regular support material. PVA also leaves a smoother surface finish on prints than standard snap off supports. PVA is compatible with PLA and PETG prints and we charge a rate of $0.10/g for the amount of PVA used plus the standard rate for your print material. Depending on your print requirements we can offer PVA as support interface only (contact between support and part) to be more budget conscious.
