Ian was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario and completed an undergraduate program in Geography & Environmental Management with a specialization in Geomatics at the University of Waterloo. His current research interests are (1) integrating the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) into Land Use/Cover Change (LUCC) models and (2) characterizing natural landscapes as a model for reclamation planning in Alberta, Canada. Through these projects, he is pursuing a growing interest computer programming. Outside of the academic world, he enjoys reading, cycling, and writing and recording music. He is also a Toronto Maple Leafs fan!
