Li Zhang joins our research team from China. She started working with Dr. Robinson on her undergraduate thesis, which involved conducting a social survey and analyzing the spatial distribution of carbon emissions from different human activities. Currently Li is working on a carbon estimation project that involves comparing multiple carbon assessment approaches to estimate carbon storage in forested landscapes. With great interest in carbon estimation, Li will be focusing her Master’s research on carbon flux estimation in agricultural systems using an agent-based modeling approach that integrates land and vegetation, land managers, and factors influencing decision making process among other related components. Li has been exploring additional topics beyond our team with other faculty as well, which includes a spatial analysis of the maker economy, to understand how it can be a conduit for local economic development.
