Robot-Assisted HIFU Treatment

 

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, known as HIFU, is a non-invasive treatment method used in medical technology and healthcare. This technology involves using focused ultrasound energy to target specific areas within tissues, either destroying cells or generating heat for therapeutic purposes.

HIFU finds applications in various medical fields, including tumor treatment, prostate cancer therapy, uterine fibroids, neuropathic pain, and Parkinson's disease treatment. It allows for precise targeting and treatment of specific areas without the need for surgery, and it has the advantage of not damaging surrounding tissues.

Robot-Assisted HIFU Treatment project aims at developing robot-operating HIFU treatment system that enables accurate targeting of the HIFU area and is involved in other engieering area such as AI-based medical image assessment. I am involved in this project and responsible for the planning and control aspects of the designed parallel-type manipulator.
