Postdoctoral Position at the University of Waterloo (Canada)

The Process Systems Engineering (PSE) group in the department of Chemical Engineering, the department of Combinatorics & Optimization and the Waterloo Institute of Nanotechnology (WIN) at the University of Waterloo has an opening for a highly qualified postdoctoral candidate to participate in and lead a project sponsored by WIN. The project aims to develop a new efficient optimization tool to model the behaviour of stochastic systems that emerge in multiple nanotechnology applications, e.g. thin film deposition and heterogeneous catalysis in reacting surfaces. Advanced optimization methods will be widely used in this research to develop the proposed tool. The starting date for this position is September 1, 2018. An earlier starting date can also be considered. The actual position is for a year with the possibility for an extension.

Candidates should have a Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field and a strong and documented background in the areas of computer programming, advanced optimization techniques, particularly in the efficient formulation and solution of IP and LP problems, as well as knowledge of stochastic systems. Strong command of the English language is essential for this position.

Candidates interested in this position are invited to submit an application to Professor Luis Ricardez-Sandoval at laricard@uwaterloo.ca. The application should include a statement of interest, a detailed CV and a list of two potential references.
