Environmental Hydrology (GEOG 407)

Semester:

Winter

Course Description

This undergraduate course focuses on ecological and biogeochemical processes that are linked to the hydrological cycle and how these relate to the management of natural resources. The objectives of this interdisciplinary course are to explore topics that integrate ecosystem processes with physical hydrology, and examine the impacts of human activities on ecohydrological and hydrochemical processes. This course focusses on the storage and movement of water, solutes and nutrients within...

Applied Biogeochemistry (GEOG 654)

Semester:

Winter

Course Description

This graduate course focuses on ecohydrological and biogeochemical processes that are linked to the hydrological cycle and how these relate to the management of natural resources. This course focusses on the storage and movement of water, solutes and nutrients within selected ecosystems, considering the biogeochemical consequences of human activity.

Foundations in Environmental Science (GEOG 640)

Semester:

Fall

Course Description

This graduate course involves graduate students in a participatory, seminar-style environment that critically examines key research in physical geography emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature of the science. Examples are used from each of the main research areas of physical geography (e.g., climatology, geomorphology, hydrology, biogeography, cryosphere, and remote sensing/GIS applications to these areas) and others directly relevant to individual student research interests are explored.

Physical Hydrology (GEOG 303)

Semester:

Fall

Course Description

How much water do ecosystems use? What environmental features control the flows and stores of water, and how do we measure and assess it? These are the fundamental questions that hydrologists address. Physical hydrology encapsulates the art of understanding what, physically, makes water flow. This undergraduate course examines...
