Biography
David A. Clausi is a Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo and a long-serving academic leader with extensive experience in academic leadership, research, and teaching. He previously served for six years as Associate Dean, Research and External Partnerships in the Faculty of Engineering and has also held the roles of Associate Chair, University Senator, and member of numerous university committees supporting research, graduate studies, and academic planning.
An internationally recognized researcher in machine learning and computer vision applied to remote sensing and sports video analytics, Professor Clausi has built a distinguished research program, authoring more than 370 refereed publications while mentoring over 100 graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. His research has attracted significant support from government and industry and has fostered collaborations across Canada and with partners around the world. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, and holds a University Research Chair.
