Biography
Dr. Woo is passionate about helping people see. As an optometrist he works tirelessly to promote eye and vision care for people of all ages across the continuum of care from wellness through chronic diease management to vision rehabilitation. Whether helping a child to see clearly for the first time, or a senior with legal blindness recaptures the joy of sight with assistive technology, his sense of wonder never ceases. Education and scholarship have been avenues of inspiration. Stan has mentored students and residents as they sought to fulfill their potential in health care. Stan enjoys pushing boundaries of what's possible and exploring how we can enhance vision and health as 'big data" permeates every sector of society. Dr. Woo has had the good fortune to be part of strong teams while completing 2 terms as the Director of the School of Optometry & Vision Science, and spearheaded effort to creat the Waterloo Eye Institute as a centre of excellence for research, education, and patient care. Looking ahead to the evolution of the institution and the potential for transformation in health systems, Dr. Woo is eager to engage with stakeholders to help shape the future.
