Senate Executive Committee
This Committee reviews the Senate Agendas, prepares a list of nominations for the committees and councils of Senate, reviews committee and council reports, and makes decisions on urgent matters on behalf of the Senate. The Committee may also request special meetings of Senate or when the agenda does not warrant a meeting of Senate may cancel the meeting.

Academic Quality Enhancement Committee
The AQuE Committee’s role lies in ensuring that each program has thoughtfully considered the recommendations provided by external reviewers and is planning meaningful action to address those recommendations as outlined in their implementation plan.
Average meetings per year: The work of this committee is done asynchronously, and reviews reports on a monthly basis.

Honorary Degrees Committee
This Committee considers and makes recommendations to Senate on the conferring of honorary degrees, Distinguished Professor Emeritus and Honorary Member of the University.

Senate Research & Innovation Council *New for 2025-2026*
This committee provides advice and guidance to Senate on strategic matters relating to research at the University, reviews and makes recommendations to Senate as appropriate on institutional policy related to university research, and reviews renewals of and new research centres and institutes.
Average meetings per year: 4 (with one additional joint annual meeting with Senate Graduate Council)

Senate Graduate Council *New for 2025-2026*
This committee provides advice and guidance to Senate on matters related to graduate education and studies at the university and approves and makes recommendations to Senate on new graduate programs and minor/major curricular modifications.

Senate Planning and Finance Committee *New for 2025-2026*
This committee serves as the primary forum within Senate for critical appraisal of long-term financial, strategic, and campus planning and internal in support of the University’s academic mission, in a shared governance context.
