The UWSA Strategic Planning Committee is inviting members to submit an expression of interest to participate in a focus group to help shape the next strategic plan. All members are encouraged to submit for this opportunity, and you do not need any special knowledge or preparation. We’re looking for a range of perspectives and experiences from across our membership.
There will be three in-person sessions on the Waterloo campus, each focused on one of three themes. All sessions will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- UWSA governance and leadership: Friday, October 23
- The Association’s organizational growth and sustainability: Monday, October 26
- Staff experience and engagement: Tuesday, October 27
There will also be one virtual session covering all themes. While all staff are welcome to register for any session, we encourage those who can comfortably attend in person to consider one of the in-person focus groups. This helps ensure the virtual session remains available for participants who are located at another campus, have accessibility or scheduling considerations, or are working remotely.
- Virtual session covering all themes: Friday, October 30, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Each focus group will have a maximum of 10 participants. Selected participants will be confirmed by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, and will receive more information ahead of their session.
This is an opportunity to help shape UWSA’s future and ensure our strategic direction reflects the needs, experiences, and priorities of our membership. All staff will also have an opportunity to contribute to the strategic plan through a survey later this term.
Interested in participating?
Submit an expression of interest by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 19. Please direct any questions to Carly Richardson.
Your right to participate
Members have the right to participate in UWSA activities under the Memorandum of Agreement between the UWSA and the University of Waterloo, as long as participation does not unreasonably interfere with a member’s duties to the University (see subsection 2.5.3 of the MoA).
