Thank you to all members who participated in the special vote on extending the President's term.
Voting closed on July 29, 2026, and members approved the following motion:
Do you support extending Alyssa Kuron's term as President of the UWSA for one additional year, from November 1, 2026, to October 31, 2027?
Results
- 651 ballots were cast, which is 34% of 1,896 eligible UWSA members.
- 95.8% of votes were in favour of the extension.
- 4.2% of votes were opposed.
- 11 members abstained from voting (1.7% of the ballots).
As a result of this vote, Alyssa Kuron's term as President of the UWSA will be extended to October 31, 2027.
This vote followed the retirement announcement of incoming President Bill Baer and the subsequent recommendation of the UWSA Board of Directors to extend the current President's term in support of leadership continuity during this transition period.
As previously communicated by the Board, this decision does not affect the process this fall for electing a President for the 2027–2028 term. Information about that process will be shared soon.
Thank you again to everyone who took part in this important decision and for your continued engagement with the UWSA.
