This is the story of three UWaterloo couples who not only work together on campus but also support the University community. Meet Tasha Glover (BA ’01) and Jonathan Woodcock, Franco Solimano (BSc ’10) and Spencer Small (BA ’12), and Josh and Heather Neufeld.
Almost 1,000 alumni and friends returned to campus for Fantastic Alumni, Faculty, Staff and Retiree Day. It was a double victory for the Warriors basketball teams — both the women and men beat the Windsor Lancers.
The Waterloo Engineering Endowment Foundation (WEEF) is making a historical donation of $750,000 to help improve student spaces across the Faculty of Engineering. This contribution is the latest in a long line of investments made by the student-led fund since its founding in 1989. As the fund has grown so has its ability to support a diverse range of causes from student projects to infrastructure improvements, all with the goal of providing world-class resources and experiences to current and future students. This legacy of institution building, driven by students for students, is reflected in the latest donation and the plans being drawn up for its use.
To celebrate Giving Tuesday, 1,690 University of Waterloo supporters — including alumni, faculty, staff, retirees and friends — donated a whopping $705,621 this year! This is an amazing achievement that is only possible because of you.

These three University of Waterloo students will each receive up to $20,000 for the duration of their studies. We are proud of our Joyce Scholars who have overcome adversity in their lives to pursue a world-class education at UWaterloo.
The University of Waterloo Campus Wellness team works throughout the year to provide on-campus support for all students, including healthcare, nutritional and dietician support, counselling services and more. While Campus Wellness covers a wide spectrum of support, Melissa Strachan, associate director of Counselling Services, is focusing on improving mental health support for students.
On November 15, more than 100 people from Advancement and 27 other units across campus (including Alumni Council members) made 1,400 calls as part of the University's National Philanthropy Day thank-a-thon.
Donors responded with appreciation — and sometimes surprise. “I spoke to a donor who was thrilled to be thanked and not asked for money,” said one caller. Some calls even sparked new gifts. Read the full story.
Many students spend their co-op work terms at tech firms or corporations. Others make an impact at non-profit organizations, thanks to several co-op programs that fund student work terms at non-profit organizations, like Global Citizen Internships, Co-op for Social Good and the Co-op for Community program.
