Roy Brouwer.
Following an exhaustive international search, the University of Waterloo has announced the appointment of Dr. Roy Brouwer as The Water Institute’s new Executive Director effective January 1, 2016. Dr. Brouwer is joining the University from Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

Water Institute now located in EIT

The Water Institute is pleased to announce that we have moved onto the main University of Waterloo campus. The Water Institute is now located in the EIT building, rooms 3007 to 3010. Drop by and say hello!

The Water Institute is pleased to announce a Call for Proposals for the Water Institute’s Seed Grant Program Winter 2016 competition. The purpose of the program is to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration, to facilitate interaction with national or international authorities, to encourage new areas of research and to encourage the development of research proposals.

Water Institute member William D. (Bill) Taylor was been named the 2016 Frank Rigler Award recipient by the Society of Canadian Limnologists (SCL). The Frank Rigler Award is the SCL's highest honour, recognizing major achievements in limnology. 

For a second year, the Water Institute, in partnership with Co-operative Education and Career Action, is hosting Employment Forums for our External Partners. The Forums are organized by the Water Institute to introduce our External Partners to Waterloo graduate students. This year, six partners are scheduled to participate in the Forums: 

The Centre for Trenchless Technology has released its second annual Canadian Trenchless Directory. The directory is the go-to resource for all those interested in trenchless technology, containing a list of numerous companies that provide trenchless services in Canada. Find out who in Canada is doing what service in the trenchless industry and who is your local service provider.


The Water Institute is pleased to offer, with the generous support of our External Partners, five scholarships valued at $5,000 each. The scholarships are available to full time graduate students at the University of Waterloo conducting water-related research.
