CRISPR IP & Patenting Life

Event Rescheduled! - Monday June 4th, 11:00-12:00, QNC 1506

Patenting Life is a tricky situation. Graham McKinnon, co-founder of Carbon Patent Group, discusses stories of CRISPR IP and patenting life as well as 101 rejections for USPTO.

Mr. McKinnon’s specialty is drafting and prosecuting patents in the fields of chemistry, therapeutics, drug delivery, genomics, proteomics, protein chemistry and medical devices. He is currently involved in the patenting of CRISPR in Canada.

Talk - Genomic Features of Bacterial Adaption to Plants

Asaf Levy - Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Plants intimately associate with diverse bacteria. Plant-associated bacteria have ostensibly evolved genes that enable them to adapt to plant environments. However, the identities of such genes are mostly unknown, and their functions are poorly characterized.

Introduction to Microbial Research

Especially for undergraduate and graduate students, the newly formed WatSAM (Waterloo Students and Microbiology) club will be hosting a panel of speakers from multiple disciplines who can tell you how microbiology impacts their field of work, answer your questions, and possibly spark a love for microbial research.

Panelists include:
