On Friday August 17th, WCMR will be hosting a day of Synthetic Biology at the University of Waterloo featuring Stanley Cohen, a pioneer in the field of genetic engineering.

Plants intimately associate with diverse bacteria. Plant-associated bacteria have ostensibly evolved genes that enable them to adapt to plant environments. However, the identities of such genes are mostly unknown, and their functions are poorly characterized.
Especially for undergraduate and graduate students, the newly formed WatSAM (Waterloo Students and Microbiology) club will be hosting a panel of speakers from multiple disciplines who can tell you how microbiology impacts their field of work, answer your questions, and possibly spark a love for microbial research.
